CAD/CAM files are made up from lines and arcs.

Splines are free flowing and have to be converted to line & arcs.

 we can do this but the actual shape can change.

Splines can also do the oddest things in DXF files

1  Original shape made from lines           

2  The dark line is a spline made from No 1

 3  Has been converted back to lines & arcs

 4  The green line is the line No 1 the dark line is line No 3 converted from a spline
