For general enquiries a rough sketched fax is often best.
A simple line drawing or sketch for straight forward arcs
or shapes is OK.
Full engineering drawing are great, but the quickest and safest method is
emailed CAD files.
With CAD drawings we can machine direct from your master files
minimising duplication and errors.
Using CAD files slashes set up time and can make substantial financial
savings.
In real terms this means we can do shorter runs and even one
off panels that would have been uneconomic a few years ago
File Types
We use Alphacam
CAD/CAM and are able to import most CAD files types
The most reliable method of file transfer is usually email with
files attached
Floppy disks can easily become contaminated lost or damaged
Here is a list CAD file types we can import
DWG, DXF, IGES, IGS, CADI, VDA-FS, ANVIL, 3D XYZPoints, STL,
STEP,
The best file to try is DXF (AutoCAD)
Followed by DWG (For some reason AutoCAD release 13 seems the
most reliable)
We use PC's but are able to convert from Apple Mac this is not always
100% reliable please contact us for more advice.
(some times a total nightmare).
Just email a file and we can have a look.
Coral Draw and Adobe Illustrator files can be imported but their
DXF file filters are made up of a mass of tiny lines so we like to
convert them ourselves. Images can be scanned and bit mapped files
can be converted for routing but these are not suitable for interlocking
or precision parts but ideal for cut outs & signs etc.
